Mike Wieringo

As I’m sure you’ve read just about everywhere else, Mike Wieringo died Sunday night of apparent heart failure. I’m just going to repost HappyJack’s comments about it here, since he says it best:

Rest In Peace, Mike. I absolutely loved this man’s work and never, ever heard a single bad word uttered about him. His characters never failed to bring a smile to my face, and his Fantastic Four will forever be THE FF that I picture in my mind. I know we’ve lost a fair many creators over the past year or so, but this one seems to hit me a bit harder than the others. Maybe because Mike wasn’t that much older than me, or maybe the way he died (my family has a long history of bad tickers), maybe just the fact that the comic industry as a whole just got less ‘fun’ without Mike. Wishes and Prayers to his family. Thanks, Mike, for all the pleasure you gave us – You’ll be missed – HJ

  1. As it happens his site is hosted with us. Unfortunately the immense traffic was crushing the server so it’s not available right now :( but something’s being worked on.

Never read his Flash but was a big fan of the FF issues.

  2. The more I have been talking to others who love comics, the more Mike seems to have influenced them or other artists that they admire. I must admit some ignorance in not really paying attention to his work, but now I am definitely interested. It is such a shame.
