I’m Sure You’ve Seen This Press Release Already…

But you really need to see it from Amber’s point of view.

You earn Serios by, presumably, completing real life quests, such as showing up to work on time or killing 10 accountants and looting their bodies for crap you’re just going to sell to a merchant for Serios.

I love Amber.

I’m not sure I really follow the logic behind this Serios thing. I mean, yes, I understand what they’re saying – let’s make the real-world like games, complete with quests, loot and phat-ness. But in whose mind is this a good idea? Never mind the silliness of trying to get an entire workplace to buy into this concept. At my job, just as a wild example, I’d love to see one of our big bosses, a retired career military man, pitched on this – his reaction would be priceless (and by “priceless” I mean “full of obscenities”). Even companies full of bright, creative game-fixated youthful employees that are working on a career in game production (let’s just call this mythical company “McDonalds”) would have a tough time buying into this idear, I’m betting.

I just want to know what the Lifestones look like…

  1. This is so ridiculous I had to write an 1800 word rant about it. Seriously. This is the worst idea since the Jump to Conclusions mat.
