N3RDCast, 27 March 2006 Part Deucey – MOGs (Well, DDO)

So this N3RDCast was SUPPOSED to be recorded Saturday night at a party Woody was having where there were going to be several DDO players (besides myself and Dr Sexy) present.
I thought that was quite a brilliant plan, and would lead to non-stop hilarity.
And then everyone got drunk.
It turns out that drunk people make for TERRIBLE recordings. Leastwise when you’re attempting to have quasi-intelligent game discussions (not that any N3RDCast to date has featured such a thing). However I do have a wonderful recording of Dr Sexy being lewdly assaulted by Jim and lots of comments regarding where his beer bottle is going…
Anyway, the next night was Sopranos night, and I did manage to corner Woody and force him to sit with me and talk about character creation in DDO and some observations he’s made that are interesting to hear (and feel free to comment on them – especially if you know/understand how stealth works for mobs). Give it a listen and chime in!

Firstly, great show! Been listening for a while now and I have to say I really like the split comic/MMO approach.
Secondly, where did you read about Turbine randomizing traps in the dungeons? All I have been able to find regarding this is user wishing they would do it. Can you post a link?
Thirdly, about Kwip’s question on Bluff. My level 2.4 rogue uses it all the time. One on one mostly, as I am no tank! I find that , when it works, the MOB will get a shimmering “thinkgy” over its head and turn and start to walk away. That’s when you stick your blade in and twist! Or run, but I have not tried the running thing yet.
Finally, thanks to Woody for the build ideas for rogue and fighter. Its also nice to hear about the great experience your having with OTG. I had thought about joining up before the launch as well, but joined with a RL friend’s guild instead. May have to throw my hat in with OTG with at least one toon, if they’re still recruting..
Keep up the good work! I’m looking forward to the next cast! Perhaps some discussion on all the rumors around BioWare’s new Austin studio and its foray into MMO. Or, hell, keep focus on DDO. Its all good!
ciao for now…

Ah…never mind about the traps link….
I opened my eyes and pulled my head out of my a** and found it.
thanks…
Thanks very much for the feedback, Eheast! Yeah, I have yet to use my Bluff. However, with my 8 charisma, I’m not really expecting any great results… =P
Glad you enjoyed the casts! I’ll see if I can tackle Lum and make him spill the beans…

Great podcast. Regarding Rogue stealth quests the only one that I found to fit the bill for that is Stealthy Repossession from the Wayward Lobster. It is possible (and challenging) to run that solo as a rogue (or bard/ranger with 10 or so hide/move silently) in stealth mode.
