Correcting our championship status and explaining the classes, dissing John Romita Jr, crappy DVDs of Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes and 2012, steampunking Nerf guns, Bronzepunk and Flintstonespunk, Steampunk Tales on iPhone, the horror of I Spit On Your Grave and why is it being remade?, the epic film Bugsy Malone, Buddy Poppy sales at your local VFWs, lame Netflix porn, F’ing Zach’s lack of a gay filter, Weeds the Showtime show, and disturbing images. Comics we spoil this week include: AMERICAN VAMPIRE #3, RESCUE #1, FCBD THOR IRON MAN, ZATANNA #1.
Okay, so I was a little confused last week, but now it’s straightened out (pun intended): We are the INTER-Gender Comic Book Podcasting Mixed Martial Arts Combat Champions. So there.
I really loved Sherlock Holmes, but it is a bit of a disappointment that the DVD didn’t really have any bells or whistles to it. There was a tiny “making of” short that barely whet my appettite for such things. And don’t even get me started on 2012 – that DVD didn’t even come with a blooper reel!
I am fascinated by the idea of modding nerf guns, so I’m eagerly awaiting the arrival of my 6 N-Strike Mavericks. My latest favorite is Jeremy’s mod – I really like the bell on the end of the barrel and the leather-wrapped handle. Plus the scarring came through particularly well.
I think our idea of FlintstonePunk is definitely a keeper. Imagine all the fun you can have modding rocks!
I’ve been greatly enjoying Steampunk Tales on my iPhone. The reader app itself tends to bother me a bit, but the stories are pretty fun – and for $2/issue, how can you go wrong? They’re cheaper than most of the magazines I get and much more enjoyable!
If you’re an old poop like me, you might remember the awesome film Bugsy Malone (even though, like me, you don’t recall the title right away). It was a pretty brilliant kids film that I absolutely loved as a child. Of course I hope that it holds up over the years – but since I’m the same guy that still watches the Popeye movie on DVD, I think I’ll be okay. If you want to check it out, it’s actually online for free!
Bonus tie-in to the awesome Kelly Sue: My Name is Tallulah!
I haven’t watched Weeds, but it’s one of those shows I’ve heard a lot about (like Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy and Justified). There seem to be a lot more of those non-major-network shows out there that are getting more interest than any bullshit the networks throw up.
But I’m still watching (and LOVING) The Office, so what do I know…
