Sites For You To Check Out

There’s a couple of sites you need to check out (if you haven’t already!).

The first is AbleGamers.com, which may not appeal to all of you, but I know there’s a few people out there it’d be of interest to. It’s a site for disabled gamers.

No, I don’t mean people that suck at Half-Life.

They just re-launched, and they’re in need of some more eyeballs, so if you get a chance, stop by.

The second site is The Escapist. It’s a gaming magazine site that I previously mentioned as having contributions from such noteworthies as Tycho (whom you better already know), Kieron Gillen ( whose piece on The New Games Journalism should be required reading of every gaming-site ‘writer’ out there), and Jim Rossignol (a very clever bastard writer that I’m insanely jealous of).

Anyway, the second issue is up. No, the first one wasn’t a fluke – it really IS that brilliant.

We wannnnnttttsssss it, my precioussssss….

Oh, and if you get a chance, check out A Few Good G-Men. Because wow. Just wow.

  1. I find this line highly ironic:
“While none have quite dared say it to my face yet, an increasing number are opining in smoky boardrooms that the quality of writers simply doesnt affect a games magazine sales so they might as well turn to recruiting armies of kids who dont know better straight from college, burning them out in a year, and then getting another set.”

…funny. That’s EXACTLY what the video game industry does when making actual video games. It might as well read:

“While none have quite dared say it to my face yet, an increasing number are opining in smoky boardrooms that the quality of writersprogrammers & artists simply doesnt affect a game’s magazine sales so they might as well turn to recruiting armies of kids who dont know better straight from college, burning them out in a year, and then getting another set.”

    Sad, but true.

  2. A site for disabled gamers, but not people who suck… lol. That part cracked me up.

  3. OK…the New Gamers Journalism article had a link in it to yet another blog/article that actually made me want to cheer and brought a tear to my eye. http://www.alwaysblack.com/blackbox/bownigger.html
