MOGCast 29 Sept, 2008: Mousing Around

In an unusual turn of events, Woody, Dr. Sexy, Trevor and I are actually back at playing a MOG – AND, even crazier, we’re actually all playing the same game. To celebrate this unusual occurrence, we sat down to talk about our initial experiences with Warhammer now that it has launched.
We recorded this as our families were cooking out, so there’s a lot of background noise (I don’t know why we can’t get our women and children just to sit quietly while we talk about this important stuff!). But it’s been a while since we talked MOG, so it was good to get back to this. Woody has a lot to say about his experiences trying to get A) a good mouse, and B) a good mouse that will let him macro. As a result of this conversation (and Woody’s wonderful help), I now have a lovely Microsoft Sidewinder Mouse (and I love it very much). Feel free to chime in with any suggestions of your own about a mouse you like.
We also discuss Grudge (which I didn’t understand), taking on healers at lower levels, and drinking buddies. There’s a LOT about Warhammer we’re all still learning. If you’ve got any clues, feel free to offer any suggestions or chime in with questions of your own!

Wow, they still make mice with cords?
I’ve been wanting a new mouse myself for a while now. That one looks… interesting. I don’t know that I can justify that kind of money on a mouse, though. Even if it is one of the most used pieces on my computer. =P
I’ve been using the Sidewinder for about a week now, and I absolutely love it. Really like the weights, and it’s just super comfortable in my hand.

Having played a hybrid tank (Disciple of Khaine), though only in tier-1, I can say I love it, as long as I don’t have to heal anyone other than me
It’s definitely very hectic when you have to heal and attack @ the same time. What I’ve found works sometimes is pick a single target to heal, like a tank, and just follow them around. I can do decent dps to help them take stuff down and keep them alive. It’s much harder to do multiple heals when you get reliant on a pool (like Soul Essence) AND action points.
Playing a Zealot on the other hand, I pretty much just spam healed and just had to watch my action points. Still, in general, I have more fun playing the Disciple, but i’m probably not healing to his full potential.

Oh, and it’s awsome to hear you guys doing MOGCasts again.
Thanks, Tathas. It really comes down to time, and with conventions winding down and the weather turning to cold, it’s not time to focus on online games.
With WoW, I always felt I was playing catch up. It’s nice to be in on a game with my friends that doesn’t have everyone picking you off because your 40 levels lower.
I am sure we’ll be moving into that area soon, but right now, I am loving Warhammer.
